After a moonlit walk through the beautiful surrounds of the magnificent West Norwood Cemetery, within the dimly lit stunning St Stephen's chapel, The Shadowgrapher will conjure a symphony of endearing yet uncanny characters, brought to life with nothing but a flickering light, two spectral hands, and a canvas of shadow.

The death of a beloved cat was the starting point for Drew Colby’s career, travelling around the world making shadows. From classic hand shadow routines to surprising shadowy twists, this transient and ephemeral art form appears intangibly full of humour, beauty and poignancy - then vanishes again, to exist only in memory and imagination.

Prepare to be spellbound and enchanted by a completely unique show-stopping shadow duet, an artful dance between light and darkness, as though the spirits themselves have stepped forth from the netherworld, their luminous existence casting eerie silhouettes on the mind.

‘Tis nothing but a magic shadow show

Played in a box whose candle is the sun

Round which we phantom figures come and go”

The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam

As a London Month of the Dead regular, I was chuffed to have an event around Christmas. The performance was fantastic and the atmosphere was perfect!

We were a little disappointed that we were unable to hear Casting the Runes. The other stories were fun though, especially the Judge’s House. How could it go wrong with Bram Stocker in charge!
